Prosody is the melody and rhythm of speech and language. Prosodic ability is of great importance for communication, and has been shown to be affected in adults with acquired brain injury. Studies have shown that Swedish children with specific language impairment have prosodic  difficulties to a greater extent than e.g. English speaking peers. It is thereby possible that prosodic ability is more vulnerable also in Swedish speaking adults with acquired brain injury.The aim of the present study was to assess prosodic ability in adults with acquired brain injury, and to evaluate the prosodic assessment procedure that was used.

Utveckling av en teoretisk elektrokemisk apparatur för vattentransport i hjärnvävnad

Varje år i Sverige sker ca 24 000 skallskador på grund av yttre trauma och 30 000 strokeskador. Ett betydande antal får sekundära skador på grund av den ökade vattenhalten kring den skadade hjärnvävnaden. Föreslagen metod är att inducera vattenflöde från skadad till frisk vävnad baserat på teorin om elektroosmotiskt flöde. Teorin bakom elektroosmotiskt flöde är att ett flöde induceras då en spänning läggs över ett medium. Elektroosmotiskt flöde tillämpas i industrin och kallas då electro-osmotic dewatering (EOD).

Ett lojalitetsprogram för Brain Bemanning

Bemanningsbranschen är en ny och expanderande bransch i Sverige. Brain Bemanning är en av branschens aktörer som inriktar sig på att hyra ut högskolestudenter till företag och detta projekt utgår ifrån ett uppdrag för företaget i fråga. Projektets syfte var att utveckla ett förslag till lojalitetsprogram för Brain Bemannings uthyrda konsulter. Företaget ville ha hjälp med att deras uthyrda konsulter skall känna sig mer integrerade i företaget. För att kunna svara på projektets frågeställning genomfördes kvalitativa intervjuer där hermeneutiken använts som vårt vetenskapliga angreppssätt.

Distribution of wild boar (Sus scrofa) damage and harvest loss in crop fields

The last decades the populations of wild boar (Sus scrofa) has increased rapidly over the species? entire European range, including Sweden. This is followed by increasing human-wildlife conflicts as a result of the wild boar foraging behavior, causing damage to agricultural crop fields due to trampling and feeding. To be able to minimize damage we need more knowledge of where in the fields the risk of damage is high and what features in the landscape that affect this risk. I analyzed damage distribution in relation to the distance to six different landscape features; forest, road, ditch, building, game field and bait station, in the study area, the Island Mörkö in eastern central Sweden.

Skogsbolagens syn på vindskadeförebyggande åtgärder efter stormen Dagmar

On the night of the 26th December 2011, large parts of southern Norrland were struck by the storm ?Dagmar? that caused serious damage to the forests. In the past 10 years wind damage has become a hot topic after several major storms. Forest companies own 25% of the Swedish forest and thus influenced largely by wind damage. The main purpose of this study was to examine whether forest companies attitude towards preventive wind damage actions were changed after the storm ?Dagmar?. The result was developed by doing interviews with two forestry companies.

Brain Gym® is a method developed by Paul Dennison in his studies of physiology and aims to eliminate potential blockages during the process of learning. During the influence of stress, as in learning, we do not possess a total access to our perceptive ability. Instead we are limited to our so called dominance profile.

Syftet med mitt arbete har varit att ta del av fyra pedagogers erfarenheter av att arbeta med Educational Kinesiology och Brain Gym med elever i åldrarna 6-12 år. Jag har genom min empiri försökt närma mig en förståelse för Educational Kinesiology och Brain Gyms fördelar alternativt nackdelar.

Hur påverkas humankapitalet av migrationen mellan länderna i Nord? - En studien av fenomenen brain drain och brain gain i Ungern.

Brain drain innebär förlorat humankapital till följd av migration och förknippas oftast med högutbildade medborgares flytt till utlandet. Brain gain innebär å andra sidan ökat humankapital, antingen till följd av att migranter flyttar tillbaka till sina ursprungsländer eller genom ökade incitament för att utbilda sig på grund av migrationsmöjligheter. Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka hur den lagändring som trätt i kraft i Ungern, för att förhindra migration av välutbildad arbetskraft, påverkar humankapitalet i landet. Uppsatsen begränsades till att enbart innefatta läkare.För att genomföra undersökningen användes data från olika databaser samt andra forskningsrapporter och kompletterande källor. Materialet analyserades med hjälp av teorier kring löneutjämning samt neoklassisk teori rörande nyttomaximering och inkomstfördelning.

Privata markägares syn på vindskadeförebyggande åtgärder :

Wind and wind damage has become a hot subject because of the storm ?Gudrun? in January 2005. The main purpose of this study was to establish how the land owners attitude toward preventive wind damage actions was changing immediately after they had been struck by a storm. The result of the study was built on interviews. In springtime 2005 a total number of 20 private land owners were interviewed. Ten of the landowners lived in the province of Småland and ten in the province of Värmland.
